Crayola ColorCycle Initiative in Hialeah/Miami, FL
Here on the Headquarter Toyota blog, we have previously mentioned that Toyota is one of the most eco-friendly automotive brands on the market with its Prius models and lineup of hybrid-variation vehicles, along with initiatives in sustainability and habitat restoration. But Toyota can’t save the planet on its own – we must do our part as well! We can do this by limiting our use of plastic drinking straws, using canvas bags when we go shopping, and recycling our old magic markers that we previously used for school and coloring projects. Oh, you’ve never heard of recycling your magic markers? Let us explain!
Crayola manufactures 465 million magic markers each year that we use to bring the images in our coloring books to life. Eventually, the pack of markers that we loved and used will dry out, and we will most likely just throw them away. Hold it right there! Once we throw those markers away, they will end up in a landfill – or worse, on the beaches of Miami and in our oceans!
To help protect the environment and keep the markers out of the ocean, Crayola has organized an initiative called ColorCycle, which collects old markers for recycling.
Where Can I Recycle Crayola Markers in Miami, FL?
Check with your local school to see if it is participating in Crayola’s ColorCycle initiative and if the administrators will allow you to leave your old markers with them.
If you prefer to participate in the initiative on your own, please visit www.crayola.com/colorcycle. Crayola will send you a shipping label for you to attach to a cardboard box filled with your old markers – and since Florida is part of the Lower 48, shipping is free!
